WHS 2011 Drive Bender Beta 3 urgent update released

If you happen to be testing out Beta versions Drive Bender for Windows Home Server 2011, then you will want to pay attention to this update put out by Drive Bender today:

We have just released an update to beta 3 (beta 4 is scheduled for the 6th of June). This is an important update, as it addresses the issue regarding the beta license expiring (it expires on the 1st of June). This update also has a number of new features and bug fixes including :

– Updated beta license to run until mid August.
– Improved Manager feedback during long tasks.
– Drive balancing has been enabled.
– The Drive Bender log files now rotate.
– Bug fix: Running an exe from a drive letter mount no longer causes an error.
– Bug fix: Save Office files to a shared folder no longer causes an error.
– Bug fix: WHS backup database cleaning now completes successfully.
– Many other bug fixes and enhancements.

If you’ve been holding off on Windows Home Server 2011 because of the removal of WHS Drive Extender in the WHS 2011 release, Drive Bender is just one example of 3rd party apps that have come into fill the void.  Good for Microsoft to leave some crumbs for the small businesses out there!  Learn why Windows Drive Extender removal was not the death of WHS 2011 that so many people predicted.
