Plizy stalks your Social Network and recommends videos for you
If you are one of those who do not mind the sharing of their activities on the web, Plizy just might be for you! The brand new iPad app crawls through your social media presence and recommends videos that you might like.
According to Plizy CEO, Jonathan Benassaya, the app’s algorithm keeps track of what you and your friends watch and like on social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter and delivers relevant videos right to the playlist on your iPad device. At present, Plizy can stream media only from public APIs like Youtube, Vimeo and DailyMotion.
Plizy is currently in a closed beta mode. Users have to sign up for the app through Plizy.com. Future plans include making the app available on platforms like tablets, smartphones, Home Theatre PC, Smart TVs, etc. Talks are underway with media streaming giants Hulu and Netflix to make their content available through the app.
Plizy is not alone in the ring either. Magma, Boxee, and Redux among a couple others are similar services that aggregate video content based on activities of users on social media sites. However, Plizy’s algorithm seems superior at first sight, that and its’ interactive user interface is also easy on the eyes.
Plizy might not be a revolutionary service, since most people tend to find their Home Theatre PC (HTPC) more than enough. However, every once in a while we find ourselves in situations where we deliberately need to kill time and Plizy can save you from being bored to death.
