Breaking News! WHS 2011 “Vail” Release Candidate now available

1

If you’ve been waiting to see what WHS Vail will look and act like without Drive Extender, here is your chance!  According to our friends over at MSWHS website,  Vail has now been dubbed Windows Home Server 2011 and the Release Candidate (RC) is available for download now via Microsoft Connect.

There are a lot of people (including me) who have been anxiously waiting to see what the newest iteration of WHS will look like, especially after Microsoft removed a feature that the vast majority of people out there seemed to believe was the one feature that made Windows Home Server any good and that WHS “Vail” was doomed for failure.  Personally, I am one of the ones who clings to hope that this will all work out in the end and that WHS 2011 will end up being a step forward for the Connected Home environment.  That makes the chances of widespread public awareness and then adoption that much more likely, increasing the chances that this year is indeed the “Year of the Connected Home”!

So while you are downloading your files, head on over and check out Philip Churchill’s overview of the RC.

Thanks Philip!
