Gizmodo recognizes the trend in Home System Integration also!

Gizmodo joined in today on promoting everyone’s soon to be favorite topic (IMHO): Home Technology Integration, also known as Home Automation.  Gizmodo Editor Jason Chen wrote an informative article covering Home Automation from the very basics of the topic such as:

  • Giving people a “taste” of what can be done with Home Automation.  For example, controlling heating and air conditioning, integrating lighting, home theater controls and much more into one cohesive system.
  • Giving the readers again the very basics about how everything communicates via his included examples of X10, Zigbee and Z-wave.  And…
  • Discussing some of the methods of integration and automation, moving past X10 and into some of the higher end Integrators like Crestron, AMX, Control4, and a couple more.

Overall it was a good article with a very big purpose.  Educating the general population on what can be done today when it comes to Home System Integration and how many of us have the ability to start playing in what used to be exclusively the rich person’s playground!

To me, that is the most important message!  Go play everyone, check out what is out there.  If you’ve got questions, stop in and visit our forums!

About the Author

BillyPut simply, Tom (a.k.a Billy) loves technology! He’s been involved in the IT world since leaving the Navy in 1992 and has moved his way up to the top on the systems engineering side. After taking a short deviation into home automation, he’s never been able to shake his love for creating an environment of complete integration at home. If there is a way to make the various systems in his home more seamless (even if they weren’t originally meant to talk to each other) he’s up to the challenge of figuring out how to make it work!View all posts by Billy
